If the conveyor stops, the coating voltage should be reduced to zero after 10-20 seconds. No holding voltage is required for cathodic electropaints. The voltage should be ramped in 10-15 seconds back to normal voltage as the conveyor restarts. Units remaining in the paint tank more than 5-10 minutes may suffer severe appearance damage through settling of pigment and dirt particles on horizontal surfaces. Good tank agitation minimizes this settling problem.
