Rinse Systems
Although these sections are basically self-explanatory, a few additional remarks are necessary. All rinses should be carefully monitored each day to assure proper adjustment and operation. Dirty or plugged nozzles should be noted and changed during the next scheduled production downtime (i. e., the third shift). Filters on rinses should be changed on a schedule determined by experience on the particular line. Weekly filter changes provide an acceptable starting point for new systems.
The total solids of the rinses should be checked occasionally to establish an operating history that can be used to indicate rinse-system problems. Rinses should be dropped periodically for cleaning and inspection. Rinses contain permeate and should not be sent to drain. Permeate should be sent to drain only when necessary to lower tank conductivity by purging contaminates such as sodium etc.
